Sonya Pippins is honored to currently serve as president of Eliza Pillars Registered Nurses of MS District I. She has over twenty years of nursing experience. She began her career in nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in 1998. She persevered and advanced up the educational ladder and graduated from Northeast MS Community College in 2001 with an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN). In August 2015, she received her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from Mississippi University for Women (MUW). She is a 2018 graduate of Walden University where she obtained her Master’s of Science in Nursing (MSN) specializing in family care. She has been an active member of Eliza Pillars since 2001 serving on the state and district level fulfilling positions including Secretary, Assistant Recording Secretary, and Chair of the Social Committee. In 2016, Sonya was Eliza Pillars Registered Nurse of the Year and a 2017 Nightingale Award Nominee for Outpatient Clinical Practice Nurse of the Year. She is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, American Nurses Association, and Mississippi Nurses Association.
